Dozens of Cuban detainees being held at the Krome detention center launched a protest Thursday morning inside the immigration facility in Miami-Dade, lining up in the recreation yard to spell out “SOS” with their bodies and also spelled out “Libre,” Spanish for “Freedom," with yellow cloth. A number of detainees remain trapped in a state of uncertainty, the Miami Herald reports, as Cuba refuses to take them back and the United States declines to release them. Some have been held since last year.
