Having studied visual art in Cairo, Boston and Dundee (UK), she has been teaching art in Dubai for several years and now works at the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children in Dubai.

Today, Juma’s work in Khayelitsha has grown into a small team of six that promotes the township’s art scene even further and tries to create awareness and development opportunities for local artists.

With scrawling motions and layered intentions all across the canvas, it is easy to feel dizzied by any one of Aisha Juma’s paintings. A portion of the Emirati artist’s works are dominated by a whirl of vertiginous brushstrokes, limited to black and white hues.

Born Geofrey Juma in the early 1990s, Art Juma grew up in Nairobi, the capital of the country, and started pursuing music as a career in 2015. He had never taken music seriously before 2011, even though he had been experimenting with rap since then.
