During the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Russia has often been accused of violating the airspace of its neighbouring countries like Poland and Romania (both NATO members), when carrying out missile and drone attacks targeting the western regions of Ukraine.

Two Norwegian F-35 jets were deployed on January 15 to protect Poland's airspace due to Russian aircraft attacking Ukraine. This was the first time such an incident had occurred, according to NATO Air Command.
