The University of Wisconsin and its NIL collective have sued the University of Miami, saying it knowingly induced one of the Badgers’ football players to abandon a lucrative name, image and likeness contract to play for the Florida school this fall.

Miami is facing an unprecedented NIL lawsuit as Wisconsin accuses the program of tampering in the recruitment of cornerback Xavier Lucas.

Wisconsin alleges Miami committed “tortious interference” after a Hurricanes staffer and a “prominent” alum met with Lucas and his family in Florida and offered financial compensation to head to the ACC school despite knowing of his deal with Wisconsin, per ESPN.
