The Los Angeles Lakers are fully focused on building their future around generational superstar Luka Doncic. After pulling off a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks to get him ahead of the trade deadline last year, Doncic has taken over for LeBron James as the team's franchise player.

Luka Doncic is prepared to take the lead in Los Angeles. Heading into his second season with the Lakers, the 26-year-old said he wants to be known as “the guy that brought championships to the city."

“The Lakers have to be careful," the executive told ClutchPoints’ Benedetto Vitale on Wednesday. "Luka just got his butt kicked by a team he handled easily last year, and now they're telling him to wait another year before he can really compete."
