While the 36-year-old legend is the Rockets' best player (26.6 points per game last season), the organization is not rushing to commit the next five years to the 2x Finals MVP.

The Houston Rockets made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason when they traded for Kevin Durant, but that also brought the superstar's contract under the spotlight since he is signed for just the upcoming campaign.

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon gave an update on the state of Durant’s contract extension. According to him, while the Rockets intend to give him a new deal, he’s not the top priority right now. Both sides could wait for the perfect opportunity to discuss about the matter.
