Volvo has revealed a new, tougher version of its EX30 compact electric SUV, as it fits the Cross Country badge to an electric car for the very first time.

Inside, the EX30 Cross Country looks identical to its asphalt-only counterpart. A vertically oriented 12.3-inch infotainment display also contains the driver information gauges and runs Volvo’s Google-based interface. You can also use Apple CarPlay, and instead of speakers in the doors, there is a single soundbar spanning across the dashboard.

True to the classic recipe, Volvo has added flared wheel arch extensions and skid plates front and back, while also raising the ride height by 0.7 inches. The CC variants will also wear unique 18-inch wheels, with optional all-terrain tires.

The model is based on the twin-motor, 4-wheel-drive version of the EX30. With that configuration, the model offers 422 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The range of that EX30, estimated at 402 km by Volvo, comes via a 69-kWh battery.

Volvo has given its EX30 small electric SUV an off-road makeover with lifted suspension and optional all terrain tyres.

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country might look familiar, because this production car is indistinguishable from the prototype model that was revealed alongside the EX30 in 2023. Volvo says that we can expect the Cross Country to join the EX30 line-up by the summer,

The EX30 is one of the most successful Volvo models globally, and the Swedish carmaker has now introduced a Cross Country version of the electric SUV, simply called the EX30 Cross Country. It is much more capable than the standard version of the SUV and also boasts a few rugged design elements to stand out from the regular iteration.
