Mark Carney's Liberal Party has won the election in Canada, according to Canadian broadcasters Mr Carney, who took over as prime minister after Justin Trudeau stepped down earlier this year, beat leader of the Conservative Party Pierre Poilievre.

According to CBC's latest figures, the Liberals have won 20 seats and are leading in 24 others. Meanwhile, Pierre Poilievre's Conservatives have secured 7 seats and are ahead in 32 more. Yves-François Blanchet's Bloc Québécois is leading in 11 constituencies,
