A tornado warning has been issued for Washington DC and surrounding areas, with the National Weather Service urging residents to take shelter as severe storms bring the threat of dangerous winds and flash flooding.

According to the NWS, at 2:28 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Leavittsburg, or over Warren, moving southeast at 15 mph. This storm may producer 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Minor damage to vehicles is possible, along with damage to trees and power lines.
