‘Great, great guy’: Brazoria County sheriff says Jesus Vargas was ‘everything you’d want’ out of a deputy ANGLETON, Texas – The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office is remembering their coworker and partner, Deputy Jesus Vargas. An officer was hospitalized and police were searching for one person after a shooting Thursday morning in southwest Houston, officials said. Officials with the Houston Police Department provided limited details about the shooting on Twitter, saying preliminary information was that someone had shot an officer from another agency and fled on foot.
