Dozens of schools in Minnesota have issued early closings or delays as another round of winter-like weather moves across the state Tuesday.

April has arrived with a blast of winter weather for Minnesota — and that’s causing some school districts across the state to cancel classes or move to online learning days for Wednesday.

It might be April Fool's Day, but the weather is no joke for the boys and girls track teams at Spring Lake Park High School. FOX 9’s Maury Glover spoke with several Minnesotans working their way through a rain-snow mix on Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a big chunk of central and northern Minnesota, while a winter weather advisory surrounds the warning. The highest snow totals are currently forecast in places like Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Duluth, where a foot of snow could pile up.

Stearns, Benton and Sherburne Counties are still in a Winter Weather Advisory . It will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. Tuesday through 7:00 a.m. Wednesday. Heavy snow, mixing with some freezing rain and sleet late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Total snow accumulations are between 3 and 5 inches, and ice accumulations are of a light glaze.
