On Friday, the South Carolina Highway Patrol held its annual Fallen Trooper Service of Remembrance. The remembrance honored the 51 patrolmen and troopers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Near the intersection of 115th Road and Belmont Avenue, MSHP said the motorcycle crashed into a trooper's patrol vehicle while the suspect fled. The highway patrol said the trooper chased the suspect.

The man allegedly gave the trooper false information, however, troopers were able to identify him as 53-year-old Philip Aiken Brown of Creedmoor, the Highway Patrol said in a release.
