President Donald Trump is pushing Republicans in Texas to redraw the state's congressional maps to help ensure the party keeps its majority in the U.S.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he believed Republicans could pick up five seats in the U.S. House of Representatives by redrawing districts in Texas, which could boost his party's odds of defending its thin majority in next year's midterm elections.

GOP incumbents in deep-red districts also may be wary of the plan if they think it will make their reelection bids more difficult.
