President Donald Trump's administration was handed another loss Thursday in its bid to end birthright citizenship. Judge Joseph Laplante of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire issued a preliminary injunction blocking the executive order Trump signed in February that attempted to end birthright citizenship altogether.

The unsigned decision lifts a lower court ruling that briefly stopped the Trump administration from cutting down the federal workforce while a legal challenge worked through the court system. The Supreme Court is now allowing federal agencies to slash jobs even before the legality of Trump’s plan has been decided.
