Uganda has confirmed nine cases of the deadly disease Ebola, the health ministry said Tuesday, raising the count in its latest outbreak from three.

It added that rapid containment is critical, because of Kampala's dense population and Mbale's location near the border with Kenya.

Ugandan health officials on Thursday confirmed a case of Ebola in the capital Kampala, in a nurse who sought care at a number of facilities.

Ebola cases in Uganda have increased to nine, with 265 people in quarantine. The outbreak's first victim, a male nurse, remains the only fatality. The Health Ministry states eight patients are stable.
