The Alabama Attorney General’s Office on Feb. 11 had asked the Alabama Supreme Court to approve Osgood’s execution. The court approved that request on March 11.

James Osgood, convicted in 2014 for the rape and murder of Tracy Lynn Brown, will be executed on April 24. He withdrew his appeals in 2024, citing exhaustion and a desire for justice.

Osgood was convicted in a case were he was accused of repeatedly raping Brown before and while he slashed her throat multiple times, the Montgomery Advertiser previously reported. Gov. Kay Ivey commuted the death sentence of Robin Dion "Rocky" Myers on Feb.
