FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — With 76,140 pounds of narcotics collected, the U.S. Coast Guard recovered the largest amount of drugs in its history. Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton's crew offloaded the drugs Monday in Port Everglades, with roughly 61,740 pounds of cocaine and 14,400 pounds of marijuana collected.

A US Coast Guard cutter on Monday unloaded a record haul of illegal drugs in Florida that, if it had made it to the streets, could yield 23 million deadly doses of cocaine, the service said.

On Aug. 25, the Coast Guard said it captured 76,140 pounds of illicit narcotics valued at approximately $473 million in Port Everglades.
