If bugs and issues are preventing you from working on your Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, you may want to try Safe Mode.

If the problem does not occur in the Safe Mode, go through the following steps to find the problematic Add-in. Exit Excel in Safe Mode and start it again in normal mode.

If Excel files are not opening on double-click, first try opening the workbook in Safe Mode. If that fails, use the ‘Open and Repair’ feature found under ‘Open’ in the File menu.
