The Coast Guard seized a record 76,000 pounds of drugs this summer
MIAMI -- The U.S. Coast Guard seized more than 75,000 pounds (34,000 kilograms) of illegal drugs this summer from boats far out to sea in the Pacific and Caribbean, which the service called its largest-ever haul worth nearly half a billion dollars.
Largest ever Coast Guard drug offload, more than 76,000 pounds, held in Florida
The largest ever U.S. Coast Guard drug offload involving more than 76,000 pounds took place at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Monday. The drugs, more than 38 tons of cocaine and marijuana, were seized during 19 different interdictions in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean, officials said.
