FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — With 76,140 pounds of narcotics collected, the U.S. Coast Guard recovered the largest amount of drugs in its history. Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton's crew offloaded the drugs Monday in Port Everglades, with roughly 61,740 pounds of cocaine and 14,400 pounds of marijuana collected.

The U.S. Coast Guard on Monday offloaded a record-setting 38 tons of cocaine and marijuana — valued at around $470 million — at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale that the agency said it intercepted during multiple patrols in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea over the summer.

The largest ever U.S. Coast Guard drug offload involving more than 76,000 pounds took place at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Monday. The drugs, more than 38 tons of cocaine and marijuana, were seized during 19 different interdictions in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean, officials said.
