By Nate Raymond (Reuters) -The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a bid by 21 young people to revive a novel lawsuit claiming the U.S. government's energy policies violate their rights to be protected from climate change.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear Juliana v. United States, the Eugene-based youth lawsuit in which 21 young plaintiffs sought to hold the federal government accountable for its role in climate change.

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear an appeal request in a landmark climate case brought by nearly two dozen young people almost a decade ago.
