US stocks ended the day sharply lower Monday and the dollar tumbled as investors assessed continued tariff uncertainty and the implications of President Donald Trump’s ongoing mission to try and oust Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

The president’s attack on the Fed and a weakening economic outlook mean more pain for the market. An index of future economic activity fell again in March while President Donald Trump continued his attacks Monday on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
