Authorities in Scotland have canceled trains and closed parks as a rare summer storm brings destructive winds to northern Britain.

An amber storm warning, covering much of mainland Scotland and the western islands, is now in force until 22:00.

No trains are expected to run to or from Inverness station until Tuesday afternoon at the earliest, while the first Aberdeen-Heathrow flight was cancelled
