Republic Services resumed limited trash pickup services to a broad swath of Contra Costa County, as well as other pockets of the Bay Area, after a crippling strike threatened to leave trash and other detritus piling up outside houses and businesses across the region.
Republic Services sanitation workers are picketing in at least seventy cities across the country. More than three million Californians are affected by a pause in trash pick up.
"It's disgusting. I hate it. I don't want to keep my garbage here but what can we do. I hope this issue will be resolved as soon as possible," the owner of a Daly City mini mart said.
