NHTSA said Monday, July 7, it opened a recall query into nearly 1.2 million Ram trucks, citing concerns related to the brake transmission shift interlock — a safety feature implemented to prevent the vehicle from shifting unless it is running and moved while the brake pedal is depressed.

The federal safety agency has received 14 vehicle-owner complaints and six death and injury reports connected to potentially faulty recall fixes.
