There's a change atop the NL West standings, at least for now. The Padres hold a half-game lead over the Dodgers following their sweep of the Giants.

With a pair of weekend series coming up against Los Angeles, the Padres will soon have the opportunity to speed past the Dodgers.

According to MLB.com’s Sonja Chen, it was another history making game for the 31-year-old. Since 1961, Ohtani is only the third player to hit into a triple play and hit a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning (or later) in the same game.

Ohtani, who hit into a triple play in the sixth inning, had given the Dodgers a 6-5 lead in the ninth with a towering home run down the right-field line off Kenley Jansen. It was Ohtani's 43rd homer of the season, breaking a tie with Philadelphia's Kyle Schwarber for the National League lead, and extended his home run streak to four games.

Shohei Ohtani has homered in his third straight game. The Dodgers star hit his 42nd of the season in the eighth inning of their game against the Los Angeles Angels.
