Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear has signed off on a bill that will lower Kentucky’s individual income tax starting next year.

Governor Andy Beshear signed House Bill 1 into law Thursday morning, a move that will lower the individual income tax rate next year. Governor Beshear stated that he signed the bill due to Kentucky’s “booming” economy,

"This has been supported by Republicans. It's been supported by Democrats. In the end, I support it because it's going to help you," the governor said before putting pen to paper.

Lowering the income tax rate has been a priority for Republican lawmakers in recent years. Gov. Andy Beshear signed the bill Thursday.
