Monday, the FDA said Sarepta may resume treating ambulatory DMD patients with Elevidys. The recommendation comes just 10 days after the agency requested that the company halt all shipments of the one-time treatment following reports of three deaths among patients who had received a Sarepta gene therapy, including two on Elevidys.

Sarepta's therapy has been under scrutiny from regulators after two teenage boys died earlier this year from acute liver injury, a known side effect of the treatment. The FDA then requested a pause in shipments of the drug after the death of a third patient taking a different Sarepta therapy.

Sarepta Therapeutics shares snapped a three-day losing streak on Tuesday, as analysts said resumption of U.S. shipments for its muscular gene therapy soothes immediate concerns about liquidity and the therapy's withdrawal from the market.
