European officials urged Iran to restrict its nuclear program to prevent the U.S. from joining Israel’s attacks but President Donald Trump called the meeting unhelpful.

The first face-to-face meeting between Western and Iranian officials in the weeklong war concluded after four hours with no sign of an immediate breakthrough.

Israel and Iran pummeled each other with airstrikes for the eighth consecutive day today, even as European diplomats met with an Iranian delegation in an effort to cool the conflict. Those talks ended with no signs of a breakthrough.
