Stunning! We went early December. Starting a little after sunrise. The morning we went it was foggy, with low cloud cover. We went with the hopes of the sky clearing mid day. As the next days were se…Full review by AJ503415

While it is a climb up to this hut, it is worth the effort. On a fine day you have the most spectacular views and amazing sunrises!Full review by Kiwiabroad5

I'm tentatively eyeing this route, and I'm just wondering how much experience you need to attempt it. I am not a technical climber, but I don't mind some heart rate pumping uphill walking. Is it difficult mostly because of sustained uphill walking, or because it involves technical skill/balance/etc? Input greatly appreciated!

Hi! Not sure if this question has been answered or not. Honestly Mueller Route comes down to weather I think. When I did the return hike to the hut in a day, weather was sunny, max of about 28 celcius at Mt Cook Village, prob about 20 with light winds at the hut so very ideal, very similar to the previous few days. So I was very lucky, had dry warm rocks and very little wind. The steps up to Sealy Tarns probably the most heart pumping thing I think. While my conditions were ideal it's necessary to slow down clambering over rocks and some looser gravel. I am more tentative than others but in perfect conditions was using my hands for small parts of the accent, similar on way down with butt at times too. But the second part of trek past Sealy Tarns would be even much more challenging,(maybe not heart pumping) in less than ideal conditions. But steller views of a different nature would still be on offer.....awesome up there!

Q:
Hi where's best to park your car for a night at the start of the track
A:
There's plenty of parking spaces at the base of the climb. I would not worry about parking. Parking your car is the easiest part. Enjoy the climb. The views are spectacular.
